I'm not religious. Should I still come?

Neither are we.

We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. Our conversations focus around the movement of Jesus. Come see how you fit into the picture.

Are you part of Mosaic Los Angeles?

Mosaic San Diego is a part of a network of Mosaic communities around the globe that share a common set of core values, ethos and beliefs. In 2013, Mosaic Los Angeles commissioned Mosaic San Diego, Mosaic Whittier and Mosaic Pomona as independent churches to connect to the diverse regions of Southern California. While we are a unique community from Mosaic Los Angeles, we work together on a shared mission. You can find Mosaic Los Angeles online HERE.

What does it take to become a member?

To become a “member” of Mosaic San Diego, there isn’t a process. To be a part of our community at Mosaic San Diego, all you need to do is come. We will do our best to serve you, teach, share with you, love you, and allow you to serve no matter where you are in your spiritual journey.

For those looking to go to the next level in investing in their spirituality and serving others, we have a one-on-one mentoring relationship that begins by attending ‘Welcome to Mosaic’ – a once monthly informational session hosted the first Sunday of each month (after each gathering). To read more about each step involved, click here . These meetings and mentorships are open to everyone wanting to know more about Jesus and/or Mosaic San Diego. There’s no pressure to join our volunteer staff once these steps are completed, but we’d love to welcome you to the team if you’re interested.

What is the Volunteer Staff process?

To become a part of our volunteer staff involves some intentionality. The only reason to join staff is if you want to make a greater commitment to invest in others. The Staff Process looks like this, and does not have to be done in this order:

1. Have made a focused commitment to Christ
2. Have made a public confession of faith through baptism by immersion after having made a focused commitment to Christ
3. Be connected to a Community Group or Ministry Team
4. Have completed “Welcome to Mosaic,” “Life in Christ” and “The Covenant”
5. Embrace the Core Values, Core Convictions and Staff Commitments.
6. Be commissioned by a MosaicSD pastor

| Honor God by following Christ personally and passionately. Your reputation is Christ’s reputation and the church’s reputation.

| Participate in the life of the congregation through genuine worship, sharing, learning, and serving.

| Support the Gospel here and worldwide by tithing (10% of your income) and then by giving more as the Lord leads. Invest your time, skills, talents, and gifts in and through the church.

| Develop authentic loving relationships with other in the church and establish significant relationships with those who do not know Jesus.

Mosaic San Diego is a huge volunteer force of talented, gifted, unique and committed “unpaid staff.” If you want to come to become a part of what we’re doing – to connect, learn, grow, and impact the city – we welcome you with open arms. If interested in coming on “staff” with Mosaic, please visit the connection tent or email Laurel Miller : laurel@mosaicSD.org.

What are your Core Values and Vision?

Mosaic San Diego is a community of followers of Jesus Christ, committed to live by faith, to be known by love, and to be a voice of hope. The name of our community comes both from the diversity of our members, and from the symbolism of a broken and fragmented humanity which can become a work of beauty under the artful hands of God. We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey.

To live by Faith, to be known by Love, and to be a voice of Hope.

To be a spiritual reference point throughout San Diego, and a sending base to the ends of the Earth.

The Church is called to whole earth evangelism.

Do you have a 'glossary' to help me understand some of these terms?

We understand that at times it can seem like we’re speaking our own language. We never want you to feel like you’re out of the loop or don’t understand what we’re talking about. We’re happy to answer any questions you might still have.

Everyone can do something to serve our community, our city, and our world! Not because MosaicSD needs positions to be filled, but because everyone needs to live fulfilled lives by using our unique personalities, strengths, and gifts to care for and encourage others. A list of ministry teams, and ways to serve, can be found here.

Volunteer Staff members of MosaicSD have made a commitment to serve through investing in their passions, service, resources, and relationships. This group of individuals is the heart of MosaicSD, and the reason we are able to live by FAITH, be known by LOVE, and be a voice of HOPE to San Diego and beyond. We’d love to have you join our team. You can read more about how to connect here.

What do you believe?

The absolute best way to understand and learn about any community is to experience it on the relational level. Statements of faith can tell you what a community of faith’s beliefs are, but they can’t tell you who they are. If you’d like to discover who we are at Mosaic San Diego, please come to one of our gatherings on Sundays.

If you are unable to make it to San Diego, and you want a more in-depth and relevant look at our core values and philosophy of ministry, please pick up a copy of the book An Unstoppable Force, by Erwin Raphael McManus. You can get it on sale at Amazon or probably find it at any major bookstore.

If the actual “statements of faith” is what you are still interested in, please reference the Baptist Faith and Message HERE.

Is Mosaic San Diego hiring?

We currently have a precedent of hiring paid staff from those who have served in a volunteer capacity at Mosaic San Diego and have demonstrated the characteristics of faithfulness, humility and gratitude; we hire based on character, not only on talent or experience.

Everyone at Mosaic San Diego, from the elders and lead pastor, to the assistants, were all active participants and servants before they were asked to become a part of our paid staff. Of course, you are always welcome to come to San Diego and join in on what God is doing here through Mosaic San Diego as a member of our volunteer staff!
